Audu Maikori is arguably Nigeria’s most prominent Entertainment Executive. He is popularly known as the force behind Chocolate City, one of Nigeria’s most successful urban record labels. But beyond his giant strides in the Music Industry, the Lawyer, Entrepreneur and Social Activist is also a widely-sought Public Speaker with a Creative Entrepreneurship track-record at World-Class Institutions that include MIT, Yale, Oxford and Pan African University, Nigeria.
As an alumnus of the prestigious Kings College Lagos, as well as the University of Jos and Nigerian Law School, his academic pedigree prepared him for his consultancy and board membership roles to a diverse body of national and international organizations including CPCS Transcom (Canada) and COSON. He was a member of the Presidential Committee on the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme ( SURE- P) and Nigeria’s representative on the UNIDROIT Sub-Committee of governmental experts for the preparation of a Protocol to the Convention on International Interests in Mobile Equipment on Matters specific to Space Assets in 2005.
Over the years, the former Nigerian Idol’s judge and Fellow of both the Nigerian Leadership Institute (NLI) and the Guild of Artistes and Poets (GAP) has been honored time and again by a plethora of bodies for his outstanding contributions to the advancement of key causes especially in the affairs of Youth and Entertainment, including a special judges commendation at the finale of the International Young Music Entrepreneur of the Year where he beat nine other countries to win the global award in 2007.
A well-rounded professional, Maikori is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UK, as well as the International Association of Entertainment Lawyers, the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association (IBA). He cut his teeth as an Associate with the renowned Chief Afe Babalola SAN & Co. and worked thereafter as Legal Advisor to Leasing Company of Nigeria. He was Company Secretary of Abuja Markets Management Limited.
Audu is a Founding Partner at Law Allianz, a firm of legal practitioners focused on Intellectual property, gaming and key privatization advisory services. He is currently a Board Member at the Zimbabwe-Nigeria Chamber of Commerce and a Trustee at the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Insurance Fund. He continues to render voluntary services for the promotion of Arts and Culture, Civil Rights and Social Action, Economic Empowerment, Education, Science and Technology and Social Services across Nigeria and globally.
Audu is presently the President of Chocolate City Group, the holding company under which the reknowned Chocolate City Music thrives.
