Ojoma Ochai currently serves as Art Director at British Council Nigeria. She has contributed immensely to various Arts and Creative Economy Programmes for the Council in Nigeria, helping to build skills, networks and other capacity that promotes the growth and collaboration potential of the sector. Ojoma works with the government, civil society, support organisations and the creative sector itself. She is also a member of the British Council’s Regional Leadership Team in Sub Saharan Africa (SSA).

Using strong partnership development and negotiation skills, Ojoma has initiated and developed partnerships for the British Council’s Arts and Creative Economy with various public and private organisations in Nigeria and the UK. As an experienced Project Manager, Ojoma was part of the design team for British Council’s Creative Enterprise Programme that seeks to equip creative people with business skills.

Ojoma is a member of the UNESCO Pool of Experts on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, where she offers creative sector consultancy to various private and public sector organisations. She is also an International Fellow of the DEVOS International Institute of Arts Management, Kennedy Centre of Performing Arts, Washington DC, USA.

In 2010, Ojoma was nominated as Young Person of the Year in Nigeria by The Future Awards and named as one of ten most powerful people under forty in Nigeria’s arts and culture sector in March 2014.
